Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that provides Aadhaar Card to Indian citizens accepts several documents from various categories. You can provide document having proof of address, proof of identity, proof of relationship and proof of date of birth.

You will need both original and copies of the documents at the time of enrolment. To get an AADHAR card one requires to have at least one proof of identity, proof of address and proof of date of birth.
Small children do not have their own proof of address so you can provide your own address if you are the father, mother or guardian of the child. India has very high population and there are many (say lakhs or crores) who don't have any type of identity yet they can get this UIDAI card due to large numbers of documents accepted by UIDAI.
